The Mandalay Award is a prestigious scholarship designed for high-achieving academically and culturally gifted students from Myanmar to pursue their A-Level studies at Epsom. This award offers an outstanding opportunity for exceptional individuals to thrive academically, benefit from tailored university guidance, and prepare for admission to the world’s leading universities.

This Mandalay Award is awarded based on academic performance and overall assessment, and is created to recognise and reward students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability, strong learning discipline, and the potential to excel in a rigorous A-Level programme.

The scholarship is open to high-performing students who have achieved:

Excellent IGCSE final results (for October/November candidates), or
Strong mock/trial examination results (for May/June candidates),

and are seeking a high-quality British education that offers both academic excellence and a clear pathway to leading universities worldwide.

Through the Academic Excellence Scholarship, Epsom aims to provide academically gifted students with the opportunity to pursue their A-Levels in a structured, supportive, and high-performing environment, while benefiting from dedicated teaching, outstanding boarding and pastoral care, and comprehensive university guidance.

The Academic Excellence Scholarship represents the highest level of academic recognition at Epsom College Malaysia. Awarded to only a small number of exceptional students each year, it recognises not only outstanding academic achievement, but also leadership, character, and the potential to make a meaningful impact on the Epsom community.

This award is tenable for the duration of a student’s time at Epsom College Malaysia, subject to meeting the College’s academic and personal development standards. All Scholars are required to review their performance annually and submit a written reflection explaining how they continue to uphold the values and expectations of an Epsom Scholar.

All Academic Excellence Scholars are expected to:

Make a positive and sustained contribution to the wider life of the College, including co-curricular activities
Demonstrate an outstanding attitude to learning and intellectual curiosity
Maintain a consistently high standard of effort in both classwork and independent study
Show leadership, initiative, and appropriate risk-taking in their academic or co-curricular pursuits
Uphold excellent standards of conduct, responsibility, and integrity.

In addition, strong candidates will typically demonstrate:

Evidence of leadership roles, initiative, or impact in school or community activities
Active involvement in co-curricular activities (sports, music, service, competitions, clubs, etc.)
High English proficiency, suitable for thriving in a rigorous British academic and boarding environment

Our Mandalay Award Scholarship is awarded through a structured and holistic assessment process to ensure that each recipient demonstrates not only strong academic ability, but also the mindset and character to thrive in a rigorous A-Level environment at Epsom.

Step 1: Submit Your Application
Begin by completing the scholarship application form on this page. Please ensure that all academic information, supporting documents, and required details are submitted accurately and completely, as these will be used for the initial assessment.
Step 2: Academic Screening
Our academic team will review your academic records, including IGCSE final results or mock/trial examination results, to assess your academic readiness and suitability for the A-Level programme.
Step 3: Entrance Test
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for Epsom’s entrance assessments, designed to evaluate core academic competencies, subject readiness, and learning potential at Sixth Form level.
Step 4: Interview & Presentation
Candidates who pass the entrance assessments will be invited to attend an interview and presentation session with our academic leadership team. This stage allows us to better understand the student’s academic ambitions, motivation, learning attitude, and overall suitability for the scholarship and boarding environment.
Step 5: Scholarship Outcome
Following the full assessment process, successful candidates will be informed of their scholarship outcome. Scholarship awards may range from partial to full (up to 100%), depending on the overall performance and strength of the application.
